Patio greenhouses within the new VRT building

VRT is leaving its current premises and fully commits to a new, future-oriented headquarters. Through an architectural competition, a design team of architects and contractors was selected to develop an innovative and sustainable building concept. The project combines a strong professional and technical programme — from offices to recording studios — with a clear ambition in terms of sustainability and connection to greenery.

Tailor-made glass structures

Within this concept, three of the five patios each feature adjoining greenhouse structures. These greenhouses function as places of rest within the building and are designed to create a sense of calm and connection with nature. The rural greenhouse typology deliberately contrasts with the sleek, modern and functional character of the new construction, adding a warm and human touch to the architecture.

Sustainable glass construction

The project consists of wide-span greenhouses, executed as high-quality glass structures. The supporting structure is made of galvanised steel combined with raw aluminium greenhouse profiles, ensuring a durable and robust construction.

Each span is equipped with a single row of ventilation windows, enabling natural ventilation and contributing to an energy-efficient indoor climate.
