We proudly built EDENYA, an ambitious project at Pairi Daiza.
This greenhouse covers 4 hectares and is composed of 50 x 50 metre modules, each lifted into place in a single operation.
The result: the largest tropical greenhouse in Europe.
Edenya is entirely dedicated to the Amazonian climate and hosts a rich and diverse ecosystem of plants and animals.
Innovative design and construction
Edenya is defined by an advanced structural design, ensuring an optimal experience for both visitors and animals.
For this project, we developed custom glass specifically for zoological environments, resulting in the world’s largest double-glazed roof.
Key technical features include:
The world’s largest covered jungle
Beyond its impressive flora, Edenya is home to a wide range of animal species, including jaguars, sharks, manatees and primates.
Thanks to its innovative multi-level design, the available ground area is used to its full potential, creating a highly immersive and natural jungle experience. Visitors can even stay overnight in themed hotel rooms integrated into the environment.
With this project, nature is brought closer to people in a setting that is both educational and captivating.
Edenya at Pairi Daiza is a unique destination where technology and nature come together to deliver an unforgettable experience.
Edenya – a technological masterpiece in service of life
As beautifully described on the Pairi Daiza website
Edenya is not only the largest tropical greenhouse ever built: it is a jewel of sustainable engineering, designed to offer a living ecosystem with exceptional energy and environmental efficiency.
Protected by an innovative 4-hectare glass canopy and equipped with custom glazing 5 times more insulating than a classic greenhouse, Edenya naturally maintains a minimum temperature of 18°C thanks to intelligent hybrid ventilation, misting and heat pumps.
Its 17,000 m³ of water circulate through an optimised system: rainwater harvesting, storm basins, internal treatment and automated irrigation.
100% of the electricity comes from solar energy via photovoltaic carports, and a geothermal project is underway to strengthen autonomy.
Safety is ensured by 25 firebreak columns, automated smoke control systems and sprinklers in every area.
More than 150 energy and water meters continuously monitor the site’s efficiency.
Enjoy the timelapse of this impressive project!
