Montevideo - ongoing project

Realisation info

Description

Technical description

The old shed roofs are renewed to meet the current requirements of energy performance and wind and water tightness.  This is done with respect for the historic character. The original pitch and the glass surfaces are respected, as well as the glass partitioning with the typical small profiles. For this purpose, a specially designed aluminium profile from Forzon is chosen which is used for glass roofs with a historic character.

Context

The Montevideo warehouses in Antwerp are receiving a new look. They were built in 1895 and named after the capital of Uruguay, which did overseas trade with Antwerp. Spices and food products were stored there over the years. They lasted longer because the typical shedding roofs were facing north. Now these shed roofs are being renewed to their historic concept in order to house offices and shops in the old warehouses

Project on behalf of Six Izegem.
